First of all, what is Salvation? Salvation is admitting that you are a sinner, believing that Jesus died for your sins, asking Jesus to forgive you for your sins, and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Thanking God for saving you!
So, why Salvation? Let's talk about this!!
Another name for salvation is born-again, new birth, saved, or regenerated. They all mean the same. But why do we need to be saved? Because we came into the world with a sinful nature through disobedience of one-man Adam. Now, in order to be restored we must trade that sinful nature for the nature of Christ by one man Christ dying on the cross to redeem us from that sinful nature.
This is the most important decision you will ever make in your life!!
Saved from what? We cannot be righteous on our own. It took the blood of Jesus to qualify us to be righteous. It is not our own righteousness but the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Righteousness means, in right standing with God. We now begin to see things from God's perspective and not our own. Before we were born-again the things of God seem foolish to us. We made mockery of them, but the Holy Spirit came to live in us. His purpose is to lead and guide us into all truths.
By spending time with God, we get to know Him and His ways of doing things. This is done by reading His Word (The Bible) _ or listening to tapes or videos that teach the life of Christ. After we are saved, we now have eternal life in Christ. You no longer have to walk in fear but in the faith of God. You are no longer under the law but under grace. More can be found on this subject in Chapter 5 & 6 of "Facing Our Fears Releasing Our Faith," by Deborah Ward.
